Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

At what age should my child have their first dental visit?

It is recommended that children have their first dental visit at around age 4. This can involve showing the child the dental equipment and getting them comfortable in the dental setting while checking their teeth for cavities and malocclusions. If you suspect that something doesn't seem right with your child's teeth at any age, we are here to answer any questions you may have.

What is Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)?

UARS is a form of Sleep Disordered Breathing. It is when sleep gets distrubed multiple times during the sleep cycle, preventing a restful night's sleep. Patients with UARS don't always snore and can be young, fit individuals. The best way to know if you have UARS is to complete the questionnaire on our website and to perform a sleep study. Our experienced doctors are here to help you determine if you suffer from sleep issues and to guide you on treatment options.

Do you use a Laser in your office?

We utilize a CO2 laser for a variety of procedures at Krause Dental Center. It allows us to perform procedures efficiently and with less post-treatment discomfort. We use the CO2 laser for the following procedures: Lingual and labial frenectomies for infants, children, and adults; removal of lesions (such as mucoceles and fibromas) in the mouth and on the lips; treatment of the soft palate for patients who snore; canker/cold sore treatment to shorten the duration and help prevent future recurrences.

What is the difference between Invisalign therapy and braces?

Invisalign therapy is one way of treating a malocclusion and/or misaligned teeth. It involves a series of clear plastic aligners that are changed every 2 weeks to move the teeth into the desired position. They work similarly to braces (the traditional way to move teeth with brackets and wires). Dr. Krause will complete a work-up on the patient and determine if Invisalign is a good treatment choice.

Do you perform periodontal therapy?

Dr. Lana is a periodontist trained in treatment of the gums and supporting structures. At Krause Dental Center we perform scaling and root planing (deep cleaning), regenerative treatment to enhance bone loss, gingival grafting for gum recession, frenectomy procedures, esthetic crown lengthening, and osseous surgery to reduce peridontal pockets and gum disease.

Do you accept my dental insurance?

We accept many dental insurance plans. Our front desk staff is here to help you navigate questions you have regarding your coverage for procedures that are recommended by the doctors.
